Thoughts

I was just thinking about you, Jean, and wanted to let you know that I miss you. Rest and recover, my friend. You can shed tears that she is gone, Or you can smile because she lived. You can close your eyes and pray that she will come back, Or you can open your eyes and see all she’s left. Your heart can be empty because you can’t see her, Or you can be full of the love you shared. You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday, Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday. You can remember her and only that she’s gone, Or you can cherish her memory and let it live on. You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back, Or you can do what she’d want: Smile, open your eyes, love, and go on.

I wanted to write some really deep and meaningful words to say how much Jean meant to me, but then I realised that there are no words that can express adequately how I feel. Quite simply, she was one of the nicest people I have ever met, if not THE nicest person I ever met. I shall miss her terribly even though we weren't in regular contact. On our last telephone conversation when she was in hospital, so very poorly herself, she was so upbeat and even in death, her concern was for everyone else. God Bless you my friend. Your like may never be seen again. May flights of angels wing you to your rest.
